Boy Shirts

I finished the sewing on my two boy shirts last night. There was a hole in the fabric on the sleeve of the recycled shirt, so I covered it up with some little dog appliques.
The blue shirt needs a button added below the last one from the man’s shirt, and I need to get some [...]

Celebrate the Boy

Okay–I saw this on Made by Rae when it first came up, but neglected to post anything about it. Then my friend Jeana mentioned it on her blog and I’ve seen it on several others, so here goes. February is
month in blogland. Since my little toughie is all boy, I’m joining in. I’ve already cut [...]

Mariners Fan Fest

Yesterday we took Gideon on his first visit to Safeco Field. It was apparently the biggest Fan Fest in 10 years. We got to go into the clubhouse, the dugout, and onto the field. Gid didn’t quite understand what was going on, but his Daddy and Mama had lots of fun!

Male Model

The intended recipient has graciously agreed to model the baby-gansey-in-process. The knitter immediately realized she’d better get her act together or he’ll outgrow it before it’s done. Little porker.

Baby Gansey Progress

I’ve been working all weekend on a sweater to match the Gansey Booties I designed for Gid. Sorry about the cell phone picture–I can’t find my camera.
I’m using the same Cotton-Ease as before, and I really like the fabric as it’s being knit up. I have enough of this yarn in stash to make three [...]

Gansey Booties

I designed these booties for my son who is three months old. I wanted something that would keep a baby warm, look good on either boys or girls, didn’t have any fiddly buttons or ties, and would stay on his feet for more than two seconds.
I used Lion Brand Cotton-Ease, because it’s machine washable, but [...]

Back in Business

Or I would be, if I could find a USB cord so I could post some pictures. There has been knitting. There will be cooking tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I have a commission for a full bridal party’s worth of wedding jewelry and the flowers for the same wedding. To distract you from the fact that [...]

The Mommy and Gideon Show

Day one by ourselves–things are going pretty well. Boy, can this kid eat! For lack of a portable bassinet, here’s where he ended up while I took a bath:

No crafting whatsoever–I’ve knitted one row on one sock since he was born, total.

Baby Gideon

Born 12:49 AM, October 3rd. 8 lbs. 9 oz. 20.25 inches. 100% sweet.

DIY Cradle Sheets

Making a fitted sheet isn’t very difficult, if you remember to give yourself enough extra fabric to extend down to the bottom of the mattress all the way around. I cut my fabric 7″ wider and longer than the mattress measurements, and I could probably have added another inch to make it really secure.
1. Cut [...]
